The job market is broken.

1.2 million human beings were laid off in 2025 alone. Cold applications have completely stopped working. And there's more candidates than ever competing for fewer & fewer jobs.

That's why a strong LinkedIn presence is the most valuable career asset you can invest in. Because being great at your job means nothing if the only people who know are in your company's #kudos Slack channel.

...which is why I built Guild95.

Hey, I'm Mo Akif.

A while back, I started building my LinkedIn presence just in case. 6 months later my company was acquired and the whole team got laid off.

Before I sent a single application, I had 3 inbound offers from VC-backed startups at better salaries. The recruiters told me it was my LinkedIn presence. So I got obsessed with it.

I've since grown multiple founders' & execs' LinkedIn followings to 10K+, but realized the people who need this most (employees) can't afford the traditional model (ghostwriting). So I built a new one: Guild95.

I've gotten to mentor Mo so I know firsthand how talented and generous he is. If I were starting my LinkedIn from scratch, I would hire him.

Who is Guild95 for (and not for)?

If you work in tech (whether a big corp or scrappy startup), care about your career, and believe in the power of a strong LinkedIn presence, you're probably a fit. We're open to all functions and all levels.

Your specific goals may differ slightly, e.g. actively pursuing your next role, building toward an exec position through thought leadership, or stealthily generating inbound opportunities as career insurance (knock on wood). But the methods are the same.

Guild95 is not for entrepreneurs or influencers. Nothing against them (I think they're great actually), they just have very different goals from 9-5 career builders and deserve a community built for their specific needs.

What's the acceptance criteria?

A few baseline filters:
- Have you held at least one full-time role in tech?
- Are you located in the US, Canada, or Europe?

Beyond that, the people who thrive here tend to:
- Be deeply thoughtful, ambitious, and generous with their knowledge.
- Have something to say, and are willing to do the work to write it well.
- Be allergic to AI slop, fear-based writing, and tired templates.

Meeting the baseline filters does not guarantee a spot. We review every application and prioritize fit over volume. Guild95 is small by design. We're selective so we can optimize for culture: a shared set of goals, values, and experiences.

What happens next?

1) You apply (just 2 fields: email, LinkedIn URL)
2) If you're a fit, I'll reach out for a discovery call
3) If you decide to join, I'll personally onboard you
4) ^That includes a profile audit + personalized roadmap
5) Then you'll have access to our Slack and weekly calls

Is this a course?

No. There will be some short educational resources included, but information is not the bottleneck on your LinkedIn growth because the formula isn't that complicated. (But if you need a course, I recommend Courtney Johnson)

IMO the bottlenecks are accountability, community, and feedback. Those 3 things drive consistent action + learning. That's what Guild95 is all about. Humans are social creatures and social learners. That will never change.

"If more information were the answer, we'd all be billionaires with perfect abs." –Derek Sivers

What's the time commitment?

Total of 3 hours per week, max.

That's 2 hours on LinkedIn: posting, commenting, DMing, and having coffee chats with people at your target companies.

Plus 1 hour a week in Guild95: skim Slack to see what's working for others, join a weekly call, ask a strategy question, or get feedback on a draft.

How is this different from ghostwriting?

I won't write your content for you. You have to do the work, but you'll get support & feedback from me and Guild95 members along the way. This costs way less than a ghostwriter, and has the benefit of improving your comms skills.

If you're a high-growth founder or exec looking for a ghostwriter, I recommend my friends Rosanna Campbell or Josh Cons. Look them up on LinkedIn. Let me know if you'd like an intro.

What makes you qualified?

Beyond my own story (above), I've helped tech founders and execs grow their LinkedIn presence, and I ran operations for an advanced job search course for senior product leaders at Meta, Google, & Amazon that hit 5-figure revenue.

Plus I've spent 10 years in tech content marketing, and an embarrassing amount of my free time studying how content creators and professionals build audiences on social.

Why are you building this?

Skill-wise, I want to learn sales, customer success, and business-building.

Passion-wise, I think it's fun to lock in with a squad of driven people to chase our career & financial goals together.

Mission-wise, I'm tired of talented workers getting overlooked because they're invisible online.

Money-wise, not my focus right now. Even if net profit = 0, I'll build skills, relationships, and experiences worth millions. I'll charge soon though.

Do you provide job search support?

Basic things like resume reviews and mock interviews? Sure, I love geeking out about that stuff.

But I want to be clear: this is not a recruitment agency, nor can I guarantee outcomes beyond getting you noticed by the right decision-makers.

Once you're in the room, that part's on you. But we'll help get you there by building a LinkedIn presence.

Can you help me negotiate my salary?

Not exactly what this community is for, but I'm happy to help. Most people leave tens of thousands on the table simply just because they don't know how to ask.

I've negotiated tens of thousands across my own career (15-50K bumps), and I previously led marketing at Valued, the best salary negotiation service in tech. So I'm confident I can walk you through a modest increase.

But if you want specialized help to get a 15-40% increase in your next role, reach out to my friends Colin Lernell & Annie Murray at Valued! Look them up on LinkedIn. They helped me negotiate my $50K increase, and I'd trust them with anyone I care about.

A castle.

See you inside?
